We are prioritizing projects that will continue our unique brand of community development in metro-Detroit and beyond.
The projects include public-private partnerships, sustainable work development initiatives, and accessible, local mixed-use development planning.
Shelborne has partnered with Jefferson East, Inc. (JEI), and East Jefferson Development Company to develop properties on the East Jefferson corridor - with a special focus on the Jefferson-Chalmers neighborhood. Our first joint project is the rehabilitation of Marlborough Apartments, a 23-unit multifamily building in the neighborhood.
Shelborne Development will also transform the historic River Plaza property located on E. Jefferson. This project will further drive inclusive development on the corridor through coordination with local economic development initiatives, implementation of live-work programming, and provision of other services requested by neighborhood residents.
Village of Valor
In 2018, we closed on Village of Valor - a 157-unit, new affordable housing development in Palm Beach, Florida. The project will create a comprehensive campus where underserved, low-income veterans and their families can access affordable housing, significant amenities, and supportive services coordinated by our partner - Faith, Hope, Love, Charity Inc. - and the local Continuums of Care chapter.
Faith, Love, Hope, Charity Inc. is a nonprofit dedicated to supporting homeless veterans in Palm Beach. The organization provides emergency housing and helps veterans access physical and mental health services, financial support, job training and placement, and permanent housing.
